While studying herbalism, I came across literature on birth written by the legendary Ina May Gaskin, which inspired me to enroll in the Wise Woman Way of Birth doula training in 2016. It immediately became clear that birth work was the vocation that spoke deepest to me as I found myself in the values of it. I recently acted as an assistant for Wise Woman doula trainings in November 2018 and February 2019. By June 2019 I will have completed the 20-hour breastfeeding course at Douglas College.

I see birth as an incredibly transformational moment for women and the people surrounding them. It is a process with the ability to change a woman’s life forever in a way that empowers her. This is entirely dependant upon her surrounding circumstances and the ability of her birth team to listen to her respectively and attentively. I strive to be a guardian of this delicate process, to ensure that women are treated with the utmost respect and attended to in the ways they desire. I want the birthing process to be remembered as a positive moment for the rest of your life. There is nothing more rewarding to me than being there for someone in this vulnerable yet powerful moment.

Birth is a normal physiological process and not something to be feared. I believe my years of studying meditation allow me to be a calm and stable support in the presence of fear and doubt that naturally occur throughout the process of pregnancy, birth and motherhood. A driving goal of mine is to facilitate an environment of empowerment and be supportive to women who have experienced trauma by educating and putting forth a consent-based model in which women are in charge of their birthing process. Additionally, my knowledge of herbalism enables me to help with any questions you have around how to support your body in a wholesome way.

I look forward to meeting all of you brave women that might consider sharing one of the most profound experiences a human can partake in with me!
