Care Giver Training

Before Jill was a birth and postpartum doula, and even before she was a mother, Jill was a babysitter, babysitter trainer (Red Cross program) and nanny. She started caring for infants when she was 14 years old, and worked primarily in childcare, first aid, and aquatics as a swimming instructor for the next 10 years after that.

Jill’s vast experience with caring for children ranging from premature newborn to the teen years in many different homes and settings equips her well to train hired in-home care givers to care for children of all ages.

Services may include:

– Providing education that is up to date on the latest recommendations and the reasoning behind these changes (helpful for people who cared for children a long time ago).

– Updating CPR, choking and first aid training* for hired care givers and parents – tailored specifically to your family’s needs and the ages of the children

– Car seat safety education and installation help for care givers that will be transporting children

– Educating care givers on the safe use of baby gear (strollers, car seats, sleep furniture, high chairs, seats and swings, etc)

– Inspecting first aid kits and helping to create emergency plans

– Touring your home with the care giver and pointing out areas of high hazard and how to mitigate risk based on the ages of the children

– Providing resources specific to your needs and area

– Recommending products for home safety

– Written report of recommendations

Investment: $600 + GST for a 5-hr session

*Please note, full CPR and first aid certification is not included in this package – it is a hands-on review of skills that is meant for knowledge only. Full certification courses require a larger time investment than this package offers, and are available through www.safebeginnings.ca (with both private and public options).
